Itinerary

Day 1: Dibrugarh

Fly to the airport in Dibrugarh, where you will be met by a representative who will take you to a hotel. Complete the check-in procedures, then take a short break. Take the day how you like. Take a stroll along the Brahmaputra River's banks or explore the neighborhood shops and tea gardens. Return to the hotel for the night once the sun sets.

Day 2: Dibrugarh — Mon (4 hours, 114 km)

Rise early for breakfast, depart for Mon, and check out. Mon, a well-known area in Nagaland, is home to the Konyaks tribe, a people who have tattoos all over their bodies and faces. The largest tribe in Nagaland with expertise in gun- and wood-making is this one.

Day 3: Mon

Your Northeast India tribal trip's third day is set aside for the Mon tour. You will go to surrounding Konyak Villages including Wangla, Hongphoi, and Old Mon to learn about the way of life and handicrafts of the people there. Many people continue to prefer to lead conventional lives. Visit the chiefs' homes to view the decorations made from wild buffalo and other killed animals. The Konyak tribe was renowned for its hunting prowess, but they ceased in the 1960s.

Return to the accommodation when the trip is finished to spend the evening at your leisure. Slide beneath the covers later for a sound slumber.

Day 4: Mon - Longwa - Mon (45 km; 2 hours)
Prepare for a trip to Longwa, one of the biggest settlements in the Mon area, after a satisfying breakfast. It lies on the border between India and Myanmar and is mostly inhabited by the Konyak tribe. Visit the village leader, or Angh ,'s, residence at this location, which is split 50/50 between Myanmar and India. Along with other Konyak families, meet the chief. Learn about their culture and history. Observe their military memorabilia gathered in the Morungs and regional handicrafts.

As mementos, Longwa Village also sells metal artwork and decorations from indigenous tribes. Visit the farms and observe how they cultivate Jhum. Drive back to your hotel in Mon when the excursion is over and stay the night.

Day 5: Mon - Mokokchung (166 km; 7 hours)

After breakfast, check out and go to Mokokchung, the next stop on your Nagaland tribal tour itinerary. Mokokchung, the first settlement the British constructed in the Naga Hills, is sometimes referred to as the "intellectual and cultural center of Nagaland." The Ao tribe, which is renowned for its art and mythology, resides there. Check into the lodging after such a hard day, then unwind by sleeping well.

Day 6: Mokokchung

Prepare to tour the Ao tribal settlements after a substantial breakfast. Visit Mopungchuket first, where the tale of Jina and Etiben is famous. They are Romeo and Juliet as told by the Ao. Observe the beautifully carved time pillar that details the Ao tribe's migrations, conflicts, and stories in chronological order.

Move in the direction of the sacred lake, where the tribe once offered sacrifices and conducted rites before conflicts. Next, go to the cultural museum, Dzukis (dormitories), and older churches. Enjoy a delicious lunch before visiting Aliba Village, which is home to the major Ao settlements, Chungtia and Ugma. Return to the lodging later on to spend the night.

Day 7: Mokokchung - Kohima (144 km/5 hrs)

After breakfast, bid Mokokchung farewell and travel to Nagaland's capital, Kohima. Visit the Doyang reservoir while at Longkhum Village along the route. Visit Tseminyu Village and Wokha Town as well before continuing on to Kohima. When you arrive, check into your hotel and go to bed.

Day 8: Kohima to Khonoma (19 kms)

On this eighth day of your Northeast tribal trip, take a half-day Kohima sightseeing excursion. Visit popular sites like the Kohima War Memorial, which honors the sacrifices made by British and Indian soldiers during the Japanese invasion. Visit Reconciliation Cathedral next to take in its stunning architecture, mural paintings, and townscape from the top of Aradura Hill.
View a unique collection of indigenous relics at The State Museum. We'll then head to Kisama Heritage Village, the well-known location of the Hornbill Festival. After lunch, go to Khonoma, one of the well-known settlements where the Angami tribe is said to reside. They gained notoriety for beginning forest protection and outlawing hunting.

Day 9: Khonoma - Dzuleke - Benreu (3 hours)

Have a nutritious breakfast to start the day, and then go to Benreu. It is a settlement of the Zeliangrong tribe, made up of the Zeme, Liangme, and Rongme clans. At the foot of Mount Pauna, at an altitude of 1900 meters, is the town of Benreu. You can go on a brief trek. Explore the hamlet and Morung at Benreu when you arrive. It is thought to be Nagaland's oldest building. Try some of the reputedly therapeutic bitter honey from this region. Check into the hotel when the tour is over for a good night's sleep.

Day 10: Departure from Dimapur (91 km/4 hours).

Your tribal tour of the Northeast concludes today. After breakfast, take a shuttle to the airport in Dimapur to catch your trip to a place where you may discover culture and create lifelong memories.
